Harvest and Fuente de Salvación Methodist Church –
United in Prayer

As part of “Methodists United in Prayer (MUIP)” - the relationship between the Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church and The Methodist Church of Cuba - Harvest and Fuente de Salvación (translated: Fountain of Salvation) became "sister churches."  Fuente de Salvación is a small, rural church with about 50 adults and 20-30 youth and children. The church is a one hour drive northeast of Holguin in the eastern part of the country (click for map).

May 2017 Trip to El Mamey:

Harvest sent a two-person team to Cuba in May 2017 to strengthen our relationship with Fuente de Salvación.  The team worshiped, prayed, learned from and spent time with our brothers and sisters there.

Both churches committed to pray more regularly and specifically for each other.  Fuente de Salvacion’s pastor and leaders taught the Harvest team how Cuban Methodist Churches intentionally grow new believers into disciples, which will help Harvest’s discipleship process.  Harvest provided a financial gift to help Fuente de Salvación share a meal with all who attend Sunday worship. A local company donated a refurbished laptop that sister church Pastor Eriberto Hernandez will use for seminary, and the people of Harvest generously contributed medicine, personal hygiene and other products.

Please contact mission team member Barbara Moore at  to learn more about Harvest’s ministry with Fuente de Salvación in Cuba and how you can participate.

United in Prayer:

Three specific prayer requests right now for our friends in Cuba. Pray that God will:

  • Comfort Fuente’s children’s ministry leader Katia and her family, whose two horses were stolen while Harvest was there. This family relies on their horses for transportation and the theft created a significant difficulty for them.
  • Comfort Osnier, a 31-year-old involved in the life of the church who suffers regularly from seizures caused by epilepsy.
  • Continue to strengthen Pastor Eriberto Hernandez to faithfully lead the church and care for his family (his wife Karenia and their 22-month-old daughter Elizabet).
