The Walk - Weekly Resource Guides and Videos
Ready to draw closer in your walk with God? Explore "The Walk - The Five Essential Practices of the Christian Life", by Pastor Adam Hamilton, The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Each week, has a GPS, (Grow - Pray - Study), resource guide that corresponds with each chapter, along with a short video by a Harvest Pastor or Staff team member, highlighting ways to grow in our faith that week.
We invite you to use the weekly GPS guide, to help you begin creating daily essential spiritual practices. We look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday and walking with you as we grow in our daily spiritual practices!
Our challenge this week is to pray 5 times each day – once in the morning, once at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and before you go sleep. Be mindful of giving thanks and saying, “I love you God”. You are also invited to join us as we get an “A” in worship by making a commitment to be in worship 90% of the Sundays for the rest of the year.

This week we are challenged to consider different ways to listen for God’s voice through reading and studying Scripture. You can start by reading five verses a day. It doesn’t take long to read five verses. As you grow in Scripture reading and it becomes a habit in your life, increase your reading to five chapters a week. That’s one chapter a day and it gives you two days to catch up, if you need it. Whether you are reading five verses a day or five chapters a day, before you start your reading ask God to speak to you through his word.

Our walk this week is about creating an attitude and life of serving God and each other. Almost every encounter, every day, we can show kindness to another person. This week we can use our 5 fingers as reminders to find opportunities to bless, minister to, encourage or care for 5 people each day. When we wake up, we can pray, “Thank you God for this day”, then add “Here I am, Lord, send me, use me.”, then add “May I have 5 opportunities today to serve another person, through a smile or word of encouragement, or invitation to share how life is treating them.” Questions? Our walk this week is about how we respond to God's generosity toward us by being generous to others. We were created in the image of generous God. We were created for generosity to be the shape of our heart and the way we live. Individually our tithes and offerings are an expression of worship and gratitude to God, making it possible for the church to serve collectively in our community and the world.

Our walk this week is about being a witness for Jesus Christ. We are representatives and we have a vital role to play of sharing the Good News of Jesus with the world. How do we do this? We might start by identifying 5 people who are not connected to a local church, pray that God would provide an opportunity to share our faith with them. By looking to God for guidance, strength, and courage, we can shine God’s love outward and be ambassadors of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

PRACTICES FROM THE CROSS
Our walk this week discovers the connection between Jesus' last words from the cross and the five intentional practices. On the cross, Jesus prayed, recited scripture, showed service to others, gave himself for us, and wanted all people to come to God. As representatives our role is to grow our love of God and others as we walk with Jesus in our daily lives.
